What is the process?

Pre-inspection

Your on-site representative (often the installer or contractor) completes the remote inspection request form. Once the request is reviewed, IECertify schedules a remote inspection session.

Remote Inspection

At the scheduled time, your representative receives a secure text link to begin the inspection. An IECertify engineer connects live and guides them through the process, asking for specific views of the home, foundation, supports, and other required details.

If issues are found

Any concerns identified will be documented in the engineer's report. Once corrections are made, your site representative can provide photo or video proof via a follow-up remote session.

On a deadline? Ask about a Rush inspection—expedited scheduling and review, typically 1–2 days and as fast as 6 hours. Standard turnaround is 3–5 days.

Requirements for your on-site representative

Be 18 years or older.
Have a smartphone or tablet with working camera, video, and microphone.
Have a reliable high-speed internet connection.
Be able to take basic measurements (e.g., home width, length, height).
Have access to a ladder for elevated or obstructed areas as needed.
Coordinate with and obtain permission from the homeowner to access the property.
Coordinate with IECertify and the homeowner to schedule the virtual inspection.
Be physically able to enter and navigate crawlspaces or other areas identified by the engineer.
Ensure adequate lighting for clear photos and video.
Cooperate with the engineer to provide necessary visuals and information during the live session.
Use independent judgment regarding safety—the representative is solely responsible for deciding whether to enter or access any area and does so at their own risk.
Provide and use any personal protective equipment (PPE) they deem necessary for safe access (e.g., gloves, mask, sturdy shoes, protective clothing). Selection and use of PPE is the sole responsibility of the representative.
Assume full responsibility for all on-site actions performed during the inspection.
